The life of Mária Gánóczy painter and filmmaker
The 'Picturesque Epochs’ is a 133 min. long saga of a four-generation Hungarian dynasty of female painters, dated from the mid 19th century. In the center of the family saga is the painter-filmmaker, Mária Gánoczy, a bright, 91 years old artist who above art, raised nine children. We travel trough her films, paintings, and stories. The 'Picturesque Epochs is a time travel through 200 years of Hungarian art & history through the eye of painters.
Péter Forgács renowned film and media artist's work - a time travel - spans 200 years of Hungarian history with substantive comments of art historian Géza Perneczky conducting us through different ages and concepts of painting. This monumental and intimate story, merge painting and filmmaking as well as the private and public life of arts throughout the dramatic epochs of Hungary.
